Terms and Conditions

These Terms & Conditions explain the rules for attending the online English courses provided by Turtle Talk. By enrolling in a course, students agree to comply with these terms.

1. Courses Offered

a) Spoken English Course

  • The course is billed and must be paid in 12-week blocks prior to course commencement.

  • Payments are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances, at the tutor’s discretion.

  • Students may secure a place on the next 12-week course. To do this, they must confirm and pay between the 6th and 16th of the month prior to the next course.

  • Live sessions missed due to holidays, sickness, or other personal reasons are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances at the tutor’s discretion.

b) Podcast / Book Clubs​

  • These courses are billed monthly - with 4 sessions per month - and must be paid prior to course commencement.

  • Payments are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances, at the tutor’s discretion.

  • Students may secure a place in the next month’s sessions. To do this, they must confirm and pay between the 6th and 16th of the previous month.

  • Live sessions missed due to holidays, sickness, or other personal reasons are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances at the tutor’s discretion.

c) Private Lessons

  • Private lessons are billed monthly and must be paid in advance.

  • Payments are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances, at the tutor’s discretion.

  • Students must pay for the next month's lessons between the 6th and 16th of the previous month.

  • Private lessons may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged .

2. Payments

  • Payments can be made via Stripe (online card payment) or bank transfer.

  • Course places are only confirmed once payment has been received.

  • If payment is late or fails, the student’s place may be cancelled.

3. Price Changes

  • The tutor reserves the right to adjust course fees at any time.

  • Students will be informed of any fee changes before the start of a new billing period.

  • Fees already paid for current sessions or courses will not be affected by future price changes.

4. Attendance and Punctuality

  • Students must join lessons from a quiet environment. Students causing distractions will be removed from the group to prevent disruption to others.

  • For weekly courses, students arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to the Zoom lesson.

  • This does not apply to weekly drop-in sessions, where students may join at any time.

  • Missed lessons are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances at the tutor’s discretion.

5. Exceptional Circumstances

  • Refunds or exceptions are only provided in exceptional circumstances, which may include emergencies, illness, or technical issues beyond the tutor’s control.

  • Requests must be made as soon as possible and are considered on a case-by-case basis.

6. Zoom and Online Lessons

  • Lessons are delivered via Zoom.

  • Students are responsible for providing a device with a stable internet connection.

  • Strictly no recording of lessons is allowed, by the tutor or any student, under any circumstances.

7. Conduct

  • Students must behave respectfully toward the tutor and other participants.

  • Students must show cultural sensitivity, respect for all religions and beliefs, and respect for other nationalities and cultures. Students should also be mindful of current global situations when discussing topics in class.

  • Disruptive behaviour, offensive language, or disrespectful comments will result in removal from the lesson or group.

  • Students must not share Zoom links or login details with others.

8. Teaching Materials and Third-Party Intellectual Property

  • All teaching materials are created by the tutor.

  • Authentic reference materials such as YouTube videos, news articles, podcasts, or other media may also be used.

  • Lessons may include links to external websites for reference or educational purposes. The tutor does not control these websites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability. Students access external links at their own risk.

  • All lesson materials and resources are for personal use only. Students may not copy, distribute, or share them without permission.

  • All rights to third-party materials remain with the original copyright holders.

9. Changes to Courses​

  • The tutor may make reasonable changes to courses, schedules, or lesson content.

  • Students will be informed of changes in advance wherever possible.

10. Privacy and Data

  • By enrolling, students agree to the collection and use of personal data as set out in the Privacy Policy.

  • Personal data will only be used to provide lessons, manage payments, and communicate important information.

11. Liability

  • The tutor is not responsible for technical problems on the student’s side, including internet outages or device issues.

  • The tutor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including loss of devices or personal data.

12. Complaints and Dissatisfaction

  • Students should contact the tutor as soon as possible at info@turtletalk.co.uk regarding complaints or dissatisfaction with the service.

  • Complaints will be handled promptly and fairly on a case-by-case basis.

  • This does not affect statutory rights under consumer law.

13. Teacher Absence or Course Interruptions

  • If the tutor is unable to teach a live session due to illness or other reasons, a suitable replacement teacher will be sought where possible.

  • If a replacement teacher is not available, students will be offered either:

    1. A refund for the affected lesson(s), or

    2. An additional week added to the course at no extra cost.

  • Students will be informed of any changes as soon as possible.

14. Age Restrictions

  • Courses are only open to students aged 18 and above.

  • Students confirm that they meet this age requirement upon enrolment.

  • Students under 18 are not permitted to join lessons or activities.

15. Governing Law

  • These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England & Wales.

  • Any disputes will be handled under these laws.
